Design Your Own Art Project:
For the Design Your Own Art Project, each student chose an art genre or topic to research. I decided to work with animation. Freshman year I only delved a little into this field, but I still enjoyed working with animation. Additionally, for my LINK Internship this year I am going to Rocky Mountain Animation Labs, so I think it will tie into LINK. After looking into several different types of animation, hand drawn, computer animation (2D like Adobe Animate and 3D), and stop motion, I decided to use stop motion. First. I designed and made a kickboxing cage fight arena. I have some stop motion figures that I used to create two kickboxing fights. Although I only made two final animations, I had to re-shoot scenes multiple times, because the green screen stopped working whenever the lighting wasn’t just right and the suction cup figures kept falling over. I added sound effects such as cheering, punching, and falling sounds. Then, using Adobe Flash I created some extra animation with words for the fight rounds. Although the photo quality could have been better, I think the final product turned out well; it is humorous and entertaining.

Pop Art Era Seminar:
Pop is an art movement that changed the art world, as we know it. The main idea of Pop art was showing that every day objects could be fine art. Until this seminar, I didn’t realize how major this impact was. Before pop art, people didn’t recognize advertising and every day objects as art. Our glorification of celebrities started with Pop art. I feel as thought the importance we place on brands, of clothes, food, technology, and other objects, stems from the ideas and values of Pop art.
